What are Dermal Fillers?
When it comes to getting older, our skin showing signs of aging is never anyone's favorite part. Dermal fillers are a quick and easy minimally invasive solution to our patients' fine lines and deep wrinkles. Dermal fillers are injectable cosmetic treatments that use a specially formulated gel to add volume back into areas of the skin that have sunken or hollowed over time. Most dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring sugar in the body that bonds to water to create the skin's signature plump and youthful appearance. At Suncoast Skin Solutions, we are proud to offer the following dermal fillers:
- Juvederm®
- Restylane®
- Radiesse®
- Belotero®
- Sculptra®

What Can I Expect During my Dermal Filler Treatments?
Your dermal filler treatments will be performed at your local Suncoast Skin Solutions office by one of our expert board-certified dermatologists. Before your dermal filler treatment begins, a topical anesthetic may be applied to your treatment area, typically around the lower two-thirds of the face. This is to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment. Once numb, a series of dermal filler injections will be carefully and strategically placed in your desired treatment areas. The entire treatment process typically takes less than an hour to complete.
What Can I Expect After my Dermal Filler Treatments?
Because dermal fillers are minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, there is no formal downtime needed following each appointment. Most patients report returning to work or their normal daily activities immediately following treatment. While many patients report mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness at their injection sites, these side effects typically subside on their own within a few days of treatment. Most patients are able to see some results of their dermal fillers immediately, with ultimate results becoming visible after all swelling subsides just a few days later. Our dermatologists typically recommend coming in for regular treatments every nine to 12 months to maintain your desired look.
