Dr. Christopher Ewanowski has the distinction of being only one of a few board certified, fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeons in the Bay Area specializing in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, laser surgery, and reconstructive and cosmetic dermatologic surgery.
Dr. Ewanowski is a native of Tampa and attended Jesuit High School. After that, he was an undergraduate at The University of South Florida. Upon receiving his M.D. from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 2003, he undertook a plastic and general surgical internship at the University of California San Francisco.
He focused on the cutting-edge surgical management of skin conditions including laser surgery, skin cancer surgery, and reconstructive surgery as a dermatology resident at Georgetown University Hospital.
After the completion of his training at Georgetown in 2007, he was only one of around 65 dermatologists globally to commence a dermatologic surgery fellowship focusing on skin oncology and Mohs, laser, and reconstructive surgery.
He completed this fellowship, which was approved by the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery in the year 2008.
Here Dr. Ewanowski trained under the guidance of Pearson Lang M.D. and Joel Cook M.D., two of the most renowned and talented Mohs surgeons in the country. After acquiring this wealth of knowledge and experience, he returned home and set-up Suncoast Skin Solutions in 2008.

Mohs micrographic surgery is a very advanced and successful treatment for various types of skin cancer. The Mohs technique is thought to be the gold standard in the treatment of skin cancer. This procedure involves the surgical elimination of skin cancer in a layer by layer manner.
In this procedure, each layer is examined under a microscope until the cancerous tissue has been entirely removed and the margins are clear (the tissue around the tumor is free of cancer).
More traditional skin cancer treatment approaches estimate the extent of tissue to be treated. However, Mohs surgery examines 100 percent of the tumor margin enabling Dr. Ewanowski to take only the required amount of tissue to ensure that the cancer is completely eliminated.
This treatment approach minimizes the amount of normal tissue removed and enhances the aesthetic results.
