Juvederm vs. Restylane For Lip Enhancement | Tampa | St. Pete | LargoJuvederm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers used for the treatment of signs of skin aging. Hyaluronic acid “plumps” the skin which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and augments the lips.

Critical Differences

Both soft tissue cosmetic dermatology fillers have the same basic components. However, there are some differences in their application, usage, and potential benefits.

Suncoast Skin Solutions, led by board certified dermatologist Dr. Christopher Ewanowski, provides facial anti-aging treatments to patients in Tampa, Brandon, Lutz, Seminole, Riverview, Brooksville, Winter Haven, Daytona Beach, Largo, St. Petersburg, Ocala, Sarasota, Central Florida, Florida, and surrounding locations.

Comparing Restylane and Juvederm for Lips

Restylane and Juvederm are both non-surgical procedures. They are both HA-based filler treatments that comprise HA to add fullness to the skin. Restylane and Juvederm both contain lidocaine to reduce pain during the procedure. Each brand has distinct FDA approved formulas specially developed for the lips.

Restylane Silk for Lips

Restylane Silk is used for the lip region. The manufacturer’s official website states that Restylane Silk was the first lip enhancement filler to receive FDA-approval. This filler can be used to enhance the lips as well as smooth out lip lines.

Juvederm Ultra or Volbella XC for Lips

Juvederm is available in two forms:

Juvederm Ultra XC medical spa injectable gel is meant to enhance the lips while Juvederm Volbella XC helps eliminate vertical lip lines as well as add subtle volume to the lips.

Inflammation and bruising are common responses to filler injectables and usually resolve in two to three days. The treated area determines how long these symptoms will last.

If the patient is undergoing treatment to address lip lines, these side-effects will resolve within seven days. With lip enhancement, the side effects can last for up to two weeks.

How long does each Procedure take?

Restylane and Juvederm fillers take only a few minutes to administer. The patient will likely require follow-up sessions in the future to maintain the plumping effect in their lips.

Restylane Duration

The time taken for a single Restylane procedure ranges from 15 to 60 minutes. As the lip region is much smaller in comparison to other injection sites, the duration of the procedure will likely fall on the shorter side of this spectrum. The impact of the filler will be visible after a few days.

Juvederm Duration

Juvederm lip injectable treatment takes the same time to administer for a single procedure as Restylane. However, unlike Restylane, Juvederm lip outcomes are immediate.

Comparing Outcomes

Restylane and Juvederm are both thought to produce smooth outcomes due to the plumping effects of HA. But Juvederm tends to sustain for a bit longer in general with slightly faster results.

Restylane Results

The patient will likely see the outcomes a few days after their Restylane Silk injectable procedure. The effect of these fillers is said to begin wearing off after ten months.

Juvederm Results

Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Volbella add volume to the lips almost immediately. The outcomes usually sustain for around one year.

Good Candidates
