Dermal Fillers

Aging process can create a striking loss of volume in the face, causing deep furrows and wrinkles over the years.

These wrinkles can be eliminated in a non-surgical manner by filling them in and removing the depressed areas by using a type of injectable filler. This simple, in-office procedure involves less downtime while offering dramatic outcomes.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) derivatives are recent developments in dermal filling technology. These are well-tolerated and do not require prior allergy testing. Some brand name fillers in the HA family are Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane, and Captique.

There are various innovative products available to patients, such as Radiesse, comprising microspheres of calcium hydroxyl appetite suspended in an aqueous gel carrier, or Sculptra, a poly-L-lactic acid substance warranting multiple treatment sessions.

Restylane and other HA-based fillers maintain their shape through the body’s own moisture. The HA in Restylane is hydrophilic (“water-loving”). It soaks up and retains water to create a plumping effect beneath the skin.

HA slowly degrades with time, but each molecule binds to more water. Therefore, even with less HA, the same volume can be maintained over time. The ability of HA to bind to water is the reason for its sustainability.

Nasolabial folds and lips are the regions that respond effectively to treatment with injectable fillers such as Restylane. However, the choice of the right type of filler, the accurate quantity of filler, and the timing of the treatment are factors that separate excellent outcomes from average ones.

Every Situation is Different

Suncoast Skin Solutions offers various medical spa injectable treatment options, but will recommend one that is most suitable for a specific patient. The professionals at Suncoast do not believe in a “cookie-cutter” approach. It is their primary focus to deliver customized solutions to address the unique needs of each patient.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a very effective, safe, physical exfoliation procedure which clears away superfluous, dry skin layers as the initial step in the micropeel. This clinical procedure is undertaken by doctors, or medical skin care specialists who are trained in the use of a modified surgical blade meant especially for this purpose.

Dermaplaning mitigates the appearance of dry fine lines that are visible on aging skin. It also enhances the rate of pharmaceutical and skin care products absorption, which leaves the patient with dazzling skin.

Dermaplaning should not be undertaken on acne-prone skin, active acne, patients with dark, thick hair, or patients experiencing hormonal fluctuations. This procedure is also unsuitable for patients taking specific meds that cause hair growth as a side-effect.

Microneedling

Microneedling therapy involves the use of targeted microneedles to inflict invisible micro-perforations in the skin. These channels promote the production of new collagen to create healthier, more youthful skin.

Microneedling therapy softens the appearance of acne scars, smoothes surface texture, and enables powerful skin care products to penetrate more efficiently into the skin. It is suitable for all skin types and involves minimal downtime. This procedure should ideally be performed as a series of three sessions spaced two weeks apart.
