Blepharoplasty
Sagging, redundant skin surrounding the eyes can make an individual appear and feel much older than their years. Periocular puffiness and loose skin are associated with sadness and fatigue, and the outside appearance generally does not match what the patient feels on the inside.
For patients who want to change this perception and attain a more alert and youthful appearance, blepharoplasty or eyelid lift surgery may be a suitable option.
This procedure is undertaken with local anesthesia and is performed in-office. To treat the upper lids, the surgeon places tiny incisions in the natural lid crease. They will remove a thin crescent of excess skin and addition muscle or sculpt the fat in the area.
The surgeon will seal the incisions with very fine sutures. There are various approaches to remove the fatty pockets underneath the eyes. Making incisions inside the lower lid is called the transconjunctival approach while placing the incisions into the skin itself below the eye, or right below the hairs on the lower lid is known as the subciliary approach.

What to Expect
Following the surgery, the area around the eyes is inflamed with minimal bruising for seven to ten days. The patient should keep their head raised on several pillows at night and apply cold compresses every few hours for the first night.
It is not advisable to wear contact lenses in the initial week due to soreness and stiffness. In addition, wearing makeup is also not allowed in the first week following the procedure. Due to the placement of the suture lines, the scars are barely discernable and follow the natural contours of the eyes.
At the time of the pre-operative consultation, Dr. Ewanowski will evaluate the patient’s eye condition, understand their expectations, and apprise the patient of the probable results of the procedure.

Browlift
